BSCOS, in association with OrthoPediatrics Corp., is pleased to invite applications for a 10 day Fellowship in children’s orthopaedics in North America. The sponsorship is intended to support the professional development of surgeons primarily, but not exclusively, in their first five years of consultant practice. Its aims are to enhance their practice, establish and strengthen links and collaboration with the UK and North America. The successful applicant would be able to visit up to two departments in the US and/or Canada and centres to be visited will be determined by their main clinical interest(s). The Fellowship will not exceed US$10,000. Refundable airfares will be economy class and accommodation, food and transport within North America will be reimbursed at reasonable levels during the Fellowship. Dr Peter Armstrong of OrthoPediatrics will help facilitate the visit with local hosts.

Applicants must be members of BSCOS, have a substantial children’s practice and be able to show evidence of publications in children’s orthopaedics. When applying they should provide the following:
1. A statement of how they perceive the Fellowship will enhance their practice
2. A proposed itinerary
3. A curriculum vitae
4. Letters of support from two members of BSCOS in good standing
The successful Fellow will provide a written report of their Fellowship for BSCOS and OrthoPediatrics within one calendar month of their return to the UK. The Fellow should also expect to give a brief presentation about their visit at the next annual meeting of BSCOS.

Applications should be submitted electronically to the Hon Secretary and will be considered by the BSCOS Board by 1st February 2017. The successful candidate will be informed at the BSCOS Annual Meeting.
