Prince Josiah Joseph
And say hello to our new co-opted Medical Student member Josiah!
"Hi, my name is Josiah. I’m here to help BSCOS reach out to students and show them how amazing paediatric orthopaedics is! Medical students do not get ample exposure to paediatric orthopaedics during university, and I believe this is something BSCOS can help tackle."

BSCOS at the BOA Congress 2022
|
We hosted three sessions at the BOA this year
Free paper session - Anish Sanghrajka and Dan Perry chaired and moderated presentations. Topics included AI in distal radius fractures, 'predictable failure' in neonatal hip assessment, the development of a language-free, upper limb assessment tool, and asking 'how good is your GIRFT?'
The Young Adult hip session was extremely well attended and attracted a diverse audience of hip preservation specialists, AHPs, children's orthopaedic and general orthopaedic surgeons. Pranai Buddhdev and Nigel Kiely chaired, with Caroline Blakey from Sheffield, Aresh Hashemi-Nejad from RNOH, Jonathan Hutt from UCLH and Sanjeev Patil from QEH Glasgow giving superb insights into the sequelae dysplasia, Perthes and SCFE.
Finally, we co-hosted a 'Holes in Kids' Bones' session with the British Orthopaedic Oncology Society, chaired by Hel Havard, with presentations from Radiologist Rajesh Botchu, Jonathan Wright and Lee Bayliss (RNOH).

A new network for Trainees
|
We held a 'Dragons Den' at the Annual Meeting and pitched a whole host of ideas at the Trainee Dragons for them to 'invest' in.
One of the winning pitches was setting up a network of trainees interested in the specialty. Often trainees are scattered across the UK and we would like to bring them together to support and inspire each other. Trainees please email education@bscos.org.uk to join the network, and Trainers please let your paeds wannabes know!
